Apartment Decorating: Bedroom

The Bedroom

     My room is a mess (both literally and figuratively) as you can see but to me it's homey and I'm surrounded by everything I love and that makes me happy (minus a living puppy but I'm working on that).

Online Shopping

     If you're a college student, not only does the phrase "oh, it's clean" get a wholeee new meaning, but so does the way you look at prices....meaning that "oh it's only $15" changes to "holy shit! $15 for just this?!"  I love clothes. Plain and simple. So completely giving up shopping while at a college with very few (if any) of my favorite shops at a reachable distance, I have reverted to online shopping. At any given time I will have about 15 tabs open on my browser of items which I am considering buying. {I will happily admit I am addicted to shopping but note the "happy" part.}

     Here are some sites I have found to fill the gap of my beloved mall and to help, I have even included a mini description of the store and it's price range as well as any discounts I know of. {Shut up, coupons will always be in style with broke-ass college students.}

          *Forever21   {this store is perfect for something you really need and want cheap; the quality is okay but it has such a huge selection that you can almost always find what you're looking for}

          *American Eagle   {sign up for the rewards program, seriously, it gives you monthly discounts and even more discounts each time you buy something; their jeans are my favorite staple and they have really cute shoes and tops so trust me, just look and you won't be disappointed}

          *Urban Originial   {thus far, i have only ordered shoes from here which are not only super cute but really cheap and similar to ones you would have to pay twice as much for at any other store; they do have clothing which looks a little slutty on the models but hey, give it a shot i guess and let me know if you do}

          *Etsy   {this store is one of my all-time favorites and it has a broad range of items and most of which are handmade so no one else will be likely to have the same thing; it can be really cheap and good quality but you just have to look}

          *AwwDore   {this has super trendy clothing for a reasonable price}

          *Urban Outfitters   {extremely expensive at times but it has such cute and trendy items; really look for things you love and stalk the shit out of them until they go on sale for a good price; they also have homegoods and bedding as well as general apartment stuff}

          *Ruche   {such cute stuff but it can be relatively expensive; it often has items you would find at urban outfitters or modcloth and they can be cheaper here too so double check}

          *Modcloth   {this is filled to the brim with super trendy items but they are relatively expensive as well; it carries a lot of the exact stuff that urban outfitters does and it's almost always cheaper so look here before buying at urban although the item is often just in a different color}

          *Shoes.com (20% off code included in link)   {in this link I included a 20% off coupon--you're welcome, but overall the site has amazing shoes from brands like Steve Madden, Madden Girl, Jessica Simpson, Sperry, UGGs, and more!}

          *Nasty Gal   {not only does this store have insanely cute clothes but they're super trendy; it's a little pricy so make sure it's something you will be wearing frequently before you drop $80 on a dress you wear once a year}

          *2020 Ave  {moderately priced and cute, it has a decent selection}

          *Dillards   {this is pretty much a southern macy's, I got my junior year prom dress here and to this day, people at college who see me in pictures tell me how gorgeous my dress is and it was only $100; if you need a cute dress this is a great place to look, same for shoes too; just be careful of the price, it can be expensive}

          *Target   {honestly, if you don't know what Target is, then I can't talk to you. get off my blog freak!}

          *H&M   {if you need something cheap, this is your place; it's very similar to forever 21 but on a more global scale; it has basic items and trendy things}

          *SaboSkirt   {honestly, it is pricey but the clothes are definitely worth it}

          *DressLux   {carries amazingly flattering dresses but everything is in the European standards so you will have to convert it using the options near the top}

          *Cents of Style   {although it only has accessories, this place is perfect for cheap and cute stuff to add to your wardrobe}

          * Ash and Dans   {great scarves, and i always see their items on pinterest}

          * Sammy Dress   {wholesale stuff from china}

          * Ally Fashion   {honestly some of the most amazing dresses you see on pinterest are here!}

          * GoJane   {trendy items for a decent price}

          * AMI Clubwear   {really cheap clothes but the quality can sometimes be questionable}

          * Lulu's   {similar to forever21 and charlotte rousse}

          * Francesca's Collections   {cute clothes but be careful, they often don't fit quite right so be sure to keep all the tags on and receipt handy if you buy online}

          * Chic Wish   {tad pricey but it's usually really flattering}

          * Oasap   {cheap clothing for a bargain and the items are on trend}

          * Miss Guided

          * Shop Sosie

          * Shop Bicyclette   {unfortunately, this store is rather expensive but the clothes are really cute}

          * Chloe Loves Charlie   {very similar to modcloth and it carries a lot of the same items but sometimes the same item can be more expensive or cheaper than modcloth so check on both before buying!}

          * She Inside

          * Chic Nova

          * Tobi   {always has 30% off new arrivals}

          * Daily Chic

          *Joyce Leslie

          *Swell Surf Clothing   {this is very bohemian but expensive!}

          *Beginning Boutique

          * US Trendy   {this is very similar to wanelo in that it's a marketplace where sellers and boutiques post their items}

          *Tilly's  {very bohemian/surfer and pretty inexpensive!}

          *Pacsun   {bohemian and a bit expensive}

          *Gypsy Warrior  {very bohemian and inexpensive!)

Decor Preview

Decorating can be hard when you have so many senimental things that really dont' have a unifying theme or color scheme to them. At least that's my problem. I get asked what I would define my style as and to be honest I have no idea, it's all over the place. I just know I like things that are sentimental and homey feeling to me; have a global-look to them; and I especially love anything that looks Moroccan. Anyways, this is a preview to an upcoming tour of my apartment (which I share with three other girls) and how we decorate on a budget.

Max-in Out

     I am short but I refuse to let that get in the way of my fashion. They're so cute and an excuse not to shave and wear huge heels so of course I'm down.

Top: Hollister
Skirt: Wet Seal

     The shirt I tied into a knot myself and you can't see but I also tied the bottom of the maxi skirt too to help with my height problem. You also can't see but I am wearing massive heels from Jessica Simpson.

Going Out Betches

     When I go out, it's a test to my body's temperature: it's FREEZING walking to the party and then a SAUNA at the actual party. There really is no winning but since more time is spent sweating, I usually dress for the party (unless it's below 50 degrees then this betch is wearing pants).

Top: Pac Sun
High-Waisted Shorts: Charlotte Rousse

     Usually as far as shoes go, I wear combat boots since I hate the black (perhaps even radioactive) sludge that gets on my feet at parties. But of course those boots are designated for parties and not nice/expensive.
